Hannah Gadbsy is an exemplary figure in this context because she is both a gender non-conforming lesbian and autistic, and uses these facets of her identity in her comedy as well as deadpan delivery. She spends the first 15 minutes of Douglas, not her first special but her first after going viral with Nanette, 'setting expectations' for the rest of the hour. It is something that does not necessarily have punchlines but is tongue-in-cheek, drawing attention to the lack of 'jokes'. It is deadpan not only in delivery but in style.
